Albion Clothing Limited opened it's doors in the late 1970's. At this time, New Zealand manufacture was booming and technology and innovation had started to transform the garment industry.
Albion's founder, George Steele, always had an eye for quality. He sensed an opportunity to focus on garments made well, great relationships and a continued investment in the best technology, not just the latest technology. Since Albion's inception, they have continued to clothe the New Zealand Police / Fire Service, the Defence Force and many other important Government organisations around the world.
In 2019, Cactus Outdoor, one of Albion's longest-standing customers, bought Albion Clothing and together they look forward to the decades ahead.

Located in Morningside, Auckland, Avenue have been working with Maggie Marilyn since we begun. Founded by Noelene Slaughter, Avenue began as a one woman sampling business run from Noelene's home.
This small set up grew quickly, from sampling to small production orders. After just six months Noelene moved Avenue into an office space and began growing the team.
In 2017 with a team of eight and a wonderful reputation as a boutique manufacturer in Auckland, Noelene sold Avenue to Steve Greer, who now runs the team, and with whom we work with very closely.

All suppliers and manufacturers we work with have signed our Supplier Code of Conduct which outlines the standards we expect to be upheld including animal welfare, environmental management, chemical and water use, greenhouse gas emissions, living wage, working conditions and waste management.

"We are at a truly pivotal moment in history. We must know our purpose and we must do everything in our power to be the change we wish to see in the world."- MAGGIE HEWITT, FOUNDER MAGGIE MARILYN
Our Supplier Code of Conduct (SCOC) was written in line with internationally accepted standards including the International Labor Organization's (ILO) core conventions and the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. It outlines the minimum level of standards we expect from our suppliers, covering topics including animal welfare, environmental management, chemical and water use, greenhouse gas emissions, living wage, working conditions, and waste management.
Before working with any new supplier we work on onboarding them which requires their commitment of signing our Supplier Code of Conduct and for Maggie Marilyn to understand the foundation of their mission, their values and how they operate. Although we have close relationships our suppliers and manufacturers to ensure they are complying with these minimum standards we will be auditing our suppliers in the future to verify that all commitments are being upheld. When COVID allows, the Maggie Marilyn team will also make regular visits to further build on these relationships.
Instead of having many suppliers, it is our strategy to build strong, trusting, sustainable relationships with a small group of suppliers who meet our requirements. As well as holding our suppliers to the highest standards of ethics and environmental management we also hold ourselves accountable for our purchasing practices."
Key to our mission at Maggie Marilyn is caring for and respecting all people in our supply chain.
In order to do this, we must know who is involved at each tier. This is much easier said than done with the fashion industry accustomed to decades of operating behind closed doors. However, through our determination to forge a new path, and time spent building trusting relationships with our suppliers, we are proud that our Somewhere garments are traceable from farm to finished garment.
